The following is the round 7 summary from the weekly footy guide (R8)

As we come into Round 8 and nearing the halfway mark of the season the hard work is still ahead for our senior football team. Facing off against Redcliffs today on their home ground will suit our running style of play with plenty of room to move on Quandong Park, some extra running and endurance drills in the bye week reinforced the message that running out games is the only way to reap the rewards that we have so dearly missed out on more than 1 occasion. There is absolutely no reason for this group in the coming weeks not to notch up some much needed wins.

Across all other football grades we are chomping at the bit to get back on the paddock, the ressies U18, U16 and U14 teams will all be looking to do well today.

Our netball ladies are refreshed and ready to take on Redcliffs after their narrow 1 goal win over Ouyen in round 6. Moving forward our senior ladies have a clear goal, we hope to see that played out today and for the rest of the home and away games as when these girls are up and about they are hard to stop. Goodluck to all our senior and junior netball teams today.

Today is also a very special day for both our clubs in remembering and paying tribute to Cohen Andrew who sadly passed away recently. This young man played his junior football with Redcliffs and came over to South Mildura in 2016 back to the club where his father Mat is a favourite son of our great club. We will honour this very talented footballer from now on when our sides meet in playing for the “Cohen Andrew Memorial Shield” there will also be a minutes silence prior to the senior football match on this inaugural occasion. Afterwards, in the social rooms both senior coaches will select their respective “Most Courageous” players for the game and a small award will be presented to both players, also a commemorative shield will be presented for the winning senior side on the day to display in their social rooms.

Cohen will be cherished in our memories by all who knew him by that big smile he would greet you with. Our love and support go out to Matty, Vanessa, Danika, Colby and his extended family.
